CLUB SPORTS

Club Sports can be considered a tier lower than a Varsity program.
This means Club Sports teams are very competitive and have some
of the perks from the Athletics Department, but is led by students. Perfect for students that like to compete on a pretty good level
without having to commit like a varsity player would.

CLUB SPORTS (2018)

HISTORY

The Club Sport initiative started from the CSI students’ efforts to elevate esports. The goal was to have it supported by the University. With that in mind, the eboard at the time and Rick Menasce, alumni, worked on a 30-page document that was then presented to the Athletics Director.

The presentation, as you can imagine, went very well. Jeff Konya, the AD, assigned the Associate Director, Nick Avery to lead the efforts, giving birth to the initial 6 Club Sports esports teams.
